Fertigation is the process or methodology of introducing / injecting liquid fertilizers, seaweed extracts and/or soil amendments into water that is used to irrigate your plants.
Fertigation is not a new concept. However, it did not become widespread in acceptance until global government organisations investigated and supported the merits. Since then it has been, and is increasingly accepted and adopted by farmers.
Thankfully, fertigation is now commercially viable for the home gardener.
Combining fertilizer with an efficient method of irrigation (which may simply be hand watering your plants) enables you to manipulate and manage both nutrients and water to obtain the maximum possible benefit for your plants.
There are many ways to fertigate, some of which are discussed here.
